Accommodation

Hotels

1. Hotel "Salyut"

www.hotelsalyut.ru

The hotel is located in 15 min walk from the Yugo-zapadnaya underground station, which is two stations away from the University underground station. It takes ~40 min to get from the hotel to the conference site. Yugo-zapadnaya is relatively far from the city center, but the residential area where the hotel is located is very nice, by Moscow standards.

The rate for renovated singles is 2700 roubles ($102/EUR 79). We cannot recommend booking non-renovated rooms – the difference in price is not very large, but the difference in the living conditions may be gigantic.

Online booking is available at http://www.hotelbooker.ru/eng/catalog/salut-1/bron.html The bad news is that the booking agency requires 100% prepayment. It does not mean that you cannot cancel the reservation, but may be inconvenient, of course. Another inconvenience is that you will have to fax an authorization form for your credit card to the booking agency - they do not have a usual internet payment system allowing them to charge your card without such a form.

The booking agency may provide visa support for a fee of ~EUR 5, http://www.visittorussia.com/faq/.

2. Hotel "Zolotoj Kolos"

www.zkolos.ru

A decent hotel with moderate prices in the VDNKh area of Moscow. It is far from the conference site. It will take about 55-60 minutes to get from the hotel to the conference site. The city center is closer than it is from the Salyut hotel, but both hostels above are closer to the center.

The rate for a renovated single is 2050 roubles ($77/EUR 60) (again, we do not recommend booking non-renovated singles). There is no online booking, so the best way to book a room will be to ask us to do so.

The hotel does not provide visa support.

Hostels

1. Hostel "Home Hostel"

www.moshostel.com/index.htm

The hostel is in a 10 minutes walk from the Park Kul’tyry underground station and close to the city center. It will take ~35 minutes to get to the conference site (walking + underground + walking).

The good thing is that “Home Hostel” provides full visa support: they issue invitations and will be able to register your visas.

The bed in the dorm costs EUR 22; there are several double rooms, from EUR 56 to EUR 78 (per room). E-mail booking is available (more precisely, there is a booking form on the site, but the booking confirmations are sent by e-mail only).

2. Hostel "Sweet Moscow"

www.sweetmoscow.com

The hostel is located in one of the most famous Moscow streets – Arbat. There are only 6-bed and 8-bed dorm rooms; the rate is $25 per person per night. “Sweet Moscow” is in a 2-3 minutes walk from the Smolenskaja station. You will be able to get to MSU in two ways: 1) a walk to the Smolenskaya station, then an underground trip (with two changes of the line) to the Universitet station, overall ~45 minutes; 2) a 15 minutes walk along the Arbat street to the Biblioteka imeni Lenina station, then underground, without changing lines, overall ~55 minutes.

There is no direct visa support. However, it is possible to get visa support from http://www.waytorussia.net/Travel/VisaSupport.html for $30 and then to register a visa at the hostel for an additional fee of 550 roubles ($21/EUR 16).

E-mail booking is available.

Crash space

If you can somehow take care of the visa without booking a hotel and are prepared for relatively poor living standards of Moscow apartments, we will be happy to provide you crash space! Feel free to ask about it.

In any case, we will be happy to help you with accommodation in any way we could, so if you have any questions or language problems or whatever, feel free to contact us.
